William Burns - Three Poems
Neglected Ghost
A forgotten
sensual spirit moves
Just beyond sensing
Smoky
gentle lips become visible
A kiss brushes my face
within the shadows
It turns
Lifting your eyes
Shiny rag-doll eyes
Reflecting everything
inside the room
Mess
She's asleep
with her
Untamed poets
her bellowing prophets
her blessed madmen
There was a moment
When the Horror
no longer stood at the door
But she refused
to leave the room
It was too much to ask
How could she lay down
The harvest of the darker kernel
She only felt alive when
collecting cathartic moments
She's asleep now
with her
Untamed poets . . .
Reckless Abandon
A man
with flaming heads
in his hands
Smirking
Telling a story
of a wild rose
Free at last
in the River
Whirling in the eddies
Drifting on the currents
