Robin Sommo
Bravado
In my wrecked garden I pray
for grace, perchance, to dance
like Ginger instead of Roy.
Those of us not destined for romance
wait to prey among the pachysandra
on hapless wanderers, studded and barbed,
Innocent barbarian candor,
brazen in pleated garb.
But hey, I'm making plans to blow my blues
with online shopping for spring blooms,
narcissi in a myriad of hues
will peek from pachysandra, artless strewn.
Whether love sees all, or love is blind,
I have always depended on the strangeness of my kind.
