Morfydd Jauregui

Napalm Moon

The skies roar with the sound of you
In the jungle flames we stood,
untouched by the heat
unseared by the flames,
alone and adrift in cindered land
Now you kill those trees that hid us as we danced,
You burn the ground that bore us
as we slept, dreaming of better times

I saw the women crying
their tin soldiers scattered in death,
no joy would be born in these desperate times.

Why do this?
when you danced in our gentle breeze of passion
as the moon hung low to light our way

all we were is burnt,
all we meant is ash
all we expected is gone.

No peace could replace this pain
no truce repair this heat
no comforting words soothe the souls of those now gone

The song is moving on and my fingers strive
to catch the beat as it takes my hand
as it draws a line of fear between my brows

Hold on
before we spend our lives
searching for the essence that was us.
