Fanny-Min Becker

San Francisco Album

(i)

Back from San Francisco
-----------------------

Filled

My empty house
With the Pacific
And Pacifica

Space still
For him returning tomorrow
And space for my old self

Duesseldorf, 21.4.1999

(ii)

Since my Heimkehr
-----------------

Barely functioning

I swing
From Melancholy to Ecstasy
And back

It has to be a Depression
Coming down from Exaltation

Duesseldorf, 21.4.1999

(iii)

Two Blocks away from 46th
-------------------------

On Eastern Pacific coast
The same water
The same waves
Echoes from Hong Kong

San Francisco, 22.3.1999

(iv)

Cable Cars Then & Now
---------------------

How could they have forbidden
Women to hang onto the poles

Those winds in San Francisco
Liked my hair flying with the cables

San Francisco, 12.4.1999

(v)

From a sand dune
----------------

The Ocean intoxicates
For a second
A blue seagull

San Francisco, 14.4.1999

(vi)

On the Beach
------------

On black sands of San Francisco
Twinkling stars in zillions
A gentle galaxy
Underneath my boots

San Francisco, 22.3.1999

(vii)

Mellow
------

Dearest Wine
Spare me the pain

Tell me not
You too need wine to mellow

Dear mellow Wine of Life

Duesseldorf, 17/21.4.1999

(viii)

Un-returned
-----------

I returned the rice cooker to your kitchen
I returned the reading lamp to your desk

Your voice I keep in my pocket
Your compass I hold in my hand

Duesseldorf, 21.4.1999

(ix)

For you
-------

For you
I walked the beaches

For you
I picked up this stone

For you I'm keeping it
Blue in grey millions
