The last, for now...I'm taking the summer off from Gravity. This has more to do with concerns about professionalism on my part, and what publishing an online litzine means to me, than anything. I just don't have the time right now to really do justice to the writers who submit to the mag, much less publish the damn thing on time, and that runs counter to the purpose of doing the thing in the first place.
But...some major life changes are in the works. It's time for me to quit poking around at a life in la lingua and just do it. That includes Gravity, in some form.
Gravity is not defunct. I'm only taking a break, not closing down. I will continue to read submissions through the summer, and will have the next issue out in September. There may be some substantial changes made in layout, mission, etc., but the 'zine will always be my baby, so the editorial focus will remain the same.
Thanks to all who have submitted to this point! Whether I used your work or not, thank you. I'll post notices to rec.arts.poems and other places on the 'net as the next due date approaches, and hope to see more work from the regular contributors.
Gravity's backissues will remain online through the northern hemisphere summer. After that, they will probably be archived and available as a .zip file through e-mail.
That said, this is a great issue! Check out Fanny-Min Becker's poignant "June 4th 1997", Dancing Bear's rumination on the cosmos and Caron Andregg's "The Feast of All Fools", well-centered in the flesh as always. Caron's new chapbook is out, and my review of it appears in this issue, as well as in the June issue of our fine Atlanta monthly Lonesome Virgin.
Look for the next issue in the fall - keep the work coming and I might have to make it a double issue.
