John Carle, Editor

Welcome, Gentle Reader, to the second issue of Gravity.

If you saw the first issue, you'll notice the design changes. Redesigning the mag has primarily meant incorporating Netscape 2.x extensions. Although I think it works, and in fact like the new look a great deal, I'm a writer first and webspinner second. Let me know what you think.

The main thing, of course, is the writing. With this issue, Gravity cuts its nonfiction teeth, with essays by Mike Silverman and Starlight. The poetry begins and ends with alumni from the first issue - from the spirituality (and occasional surreality) of Dancing Bear and Ray Heinrich to the gorgeous image of Perry Thompson's "Gardeners" - but we also welcome William Burns and Samantha Carter to our pages. A lot of work has gone into all of these writings - please take the time to browse through everything here and spread the word about us. I'll be putting out Gravity until they pry my mouse from my cold, carpal-tunnel- ridden fist.

One note - The nonfiction within is of a political nature and, I believe, belongs right where it is. Its inclusion in Gravity in no way means that I necessarily agree with everything a writer says. Rather, I hope to spark some debate about topics of importance to people. Whether you agree or disagree with what you read here, let me know what you think. Reasoned responses (letters or essays) will be included in future issues.

Update - September 8. Just in case anyone else noticed that the links to the pages of the first issue didn't work (moved the files to a new directory and forgot to change the absolute URLs), that's been corrected. Now you can check out Gravity's beginnings. Really!
