Wisdom of the Forests
stoic pine trees just seem to know
the emerald smirk emits a glow.
long straight pointed needles stand
green through the summer's raging
heat-waves and then fail to bow in
winter's frost. aloofly detaching
form the tumult of change and
temporary events. stand fast
wonderful permanence whose
grips flails and fails in subsequent
flashes. the empty calls in lapsing
breath ignoring the ocean's
gyrations, retreats and eroding ways.
surge of the swell, thesis brine
only seems imminent and omnipotent
in the assaults. undaunted pine trees
shut out the noise and revels in
peaceful green abandonment.
their branches never blanch or
beach. turning and spurning is
not their way. pass on though
spectacle and specter alike. these pines
stand tranquil and their growth
continues unabated . perhaps they
know better or seem to see more.
questions asked, answers given
both drift into topsoil under the
mild or torrid ocean breezes.
Dave Gitomer writes: "I am living on Long Island,
New York, USA with my wife and 2 children. Somehow I survived the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, finally
learned to live in 90s. Some of us get it easier than others.
