Dancing Bear - two poems

City Blues Love Money

go downtown
walk around
catch Love and Money
on the corner of tenth
and mission
holdin’ each other like a vision
of capitalistic pleasure
doin’ a dance
we all clap our hands to
wishin’ to be better at

desire is a hunger fed
by market street marketeers

-baby, you ain’t got
to roll just yet
. . .if there’s a show
-it’s just gettin’ started

Pigment

On the outside
I am more white than red
Green is what I paint with
because it is how I feel
I write in the middle of blue-black nights
but sometimes gray mornings
and azure days
under the lemon light of the sun
my love is brunette hair and brown eyes
staring into my blue greens
When rust tone sleep comes
I dream in colors
of royal purple jazz
coffee and cream friends
golden eagles and black bears
earth tone turtles
in brown and tan deserts
For ginger cats and dogs of snow
multi-hued dragon tattoos
and graying elders
and of blue and rose tinted stars
near a silver moon

for my red spirit
