John and Cheryl Carle

Hi! We're John and Cheryl Carle from Douglasville, GA.

We've always wanted to raise a family so when we found that we couldn't have children of our own, we naturally decided to adopt. We want our child to know and feel proud of who they are. For this reason we remain open to whatever level of contact you would like. Please let us know what you would be comfortable with. We look forward to the meeting you soon and we hope that you can join us on this adoption journey!

Our Town

We recently moved out of the city and relocated to Douglasville, Georgia. We're only about 20 miles west of downtown Atlanta, so it's still easy to go the zoo, attend Braves baseball games or visit friends.

Douglasville is extremely family-friendly. Despite the numerous places to shop and eat, it still has a wonderful small-town feel. The houses in our neighborhood are surrounded by wrap-around porches and dressed with beautiful flowers and woodlands. There are nature parks, waterfalls, and bike trails to enjoy. The schools are excellent, and children can participate in any number of organized sports or extra-curricular activities, including horseback riding lessons. It's a wonderful place for a child to grow up!

John

John grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from St. John's College in New Mexico. We met when he moved to Atlanta after college graduation and married a year and a half later. He has moved out of the computer field and is now a middle school special education teacher with the Atlanta Public Schools. He is working towards his Masters in Education and will someday complete his doctorate.

He runs and online poetry magazine and likes to read about history. He's passionate about politics and is an internet junkie. He enjoys watching Food Network, and in fact does a lot of the cooking! He wants to plant a vegetable garden in our back yard and is looking forward to taking our children camping. He really enjoys his time at home and can't wait to be a father!

Cheryl says about John: John is a happy-go lucky guy. He is a very loving, loyal and giving person and he's very open and accepting of others. He's smart and witty, and I adore him. He is very patient and sweet with kids and he seems to light up when they're around. Our child is going to have such a wonderful and involved father!

Cheryl

Cheryl grew up in a small town just outside of Atlanta. She attended Auburn University in Alabama where she studied education and art. She works as an Administrative Support Specialist, which is a fancy way of saying that she spends her day on a computer. She is making plans to re-enter college so that she can get her certificate in elementary education.

Cheryl likes to read detective novels, paint, go to movies and hunt for hidden treasure at flea markets. In her spare time she restores old photographs and has designed several book covers. One day she wants to write a series of children's books. She is looking forward to being a new mom and taking time off to be with the baby!

John says about Cheryl: Cheryl is a warmhearted, loving wife and a born mother. I have always known that she would be a great mom; she has so many interests and loves to share her love of art and music with our nieces, nephews and all the kids in the neighborhood. She has really taken our neighbors Karly and Emily under her wing and helped guide them as they've grown up. She is my best friend and I can hardly wait to watch her share her love of life with our child.

Family & Friends

We both have large network of familes and friends and we spend lots of time together at the family lakehouse in the summer. We throw lots of slumber parties for the kids, and take many vacations together. We have a total of eleven nieces and nephews, not to mention the numerous little cousins between us! John's family is further away, but we talk on the phone often and we take turns visiting back and forth during the year.

Our families understand that we want to raise our children in the knowledge and love of all their family members, including their birthfamily. We will let you decide what level of contact if any that you would like. Regardless, we want our child to understand what a loving and selfless decision that you have made. We know that together we can come up with a solution that can work for all of us.

Our furry friends

We share our home with our dog Scarlett and cat Mr. Kitty. Scarlett is part Scottie dog and mostly mutt. She has super-short legs and is as sweet as she can be. We also call her squirrel-ette or sock-a-dile because she often sneaks off with a pair of our socks to play with.

Mr. Kitty is a very handsome cat and he loves to sing us his wake-up song at 5 o'clock in the morning! We named him "Mr. Kitty" because he demands respect, but he is still such a little lovey-dovey kitty at heart. He is such a gentleman in his little furry tuxedo!
